Bradwell
Bradwell was built on the edge of a former World War II airfield, one and a half miles from the Essex coastline.
The 20-hectare site began decommissioning in 2012 and entered care and maintenance in November 2018. Bradwell is being managed remotely from Sizewell A during care and maintenance, and Sizewell A conducts annual inspections and maintains 24-hour security.
The site stakeholder group at Bradwell is known as a local community liaison council.

From 1 April 2022 there is a net decrease in the volume of HLW because accumulated highly active liquor is being conditioned, which reduces its volume by about two-thirds, and also because vitrified HLW is being exported to overseas customers.
