7D28 - Low Level Waste Resin from Plant Decontamination (MODIX)
Submarine primary circuit is chemically decontaminated to remove magnetite layer and hence radioactive activation products. Soluble activity is removed from process liquid using ion exchange resin. Primary plant dose rates are significantly reduced as a result of the process.

7D30/C - Devonport Conditioned Sludge (for Disposal to NWS)
The waste arises from the operation of the radioactive effluent treatment facilities. Particulate material can settle in tanks forming the sludge which is removed. Similar sludges are also removed from portable effluent tanks during periodic maintenance operations.

The waste originates from radioactive effluent treatment. The filters are used to remove radioactive particulates from the liquid during processing. Liquid arises from the refit, repair and maintenance of nuclear powered submarines.

The primary circuit of the reactor power plant is decontaminated using a multi-stage chemical process. Resin is used to remove soluble metal activation products that are generated when the magnetite layer is removed from the primary plant.
